Why this blog?

I started this blog as a way to help promote shelter dogs that are at risk of Euthanasia, especially the dogs at the City Of Hartford Animal Shelter in Bloomfield. COH dogs are mostly strays and abandoned pets, who must be held for 9 days in hopes of their owners claiming them. The day after their 9 days are up, they must be euthanized. That means they are available for adoption for just ONE day. Despite the overwhelming odds, almost every adoptable dog that has come through the COH facility has found a home with the help of a dedicated band of volunteers who share the dogs' pictures and information ahead of their "urgent date". Adopting from a Rescue Group

Below are a list of Rescue Organization who pull dogs in danger from area pounds and shelters, evaluate and, if neccessary, rehabilitate and/or train them, then find appropriate homes for them. Adopting from Rescue Groups also helps save lives -- when a dog is adopted from a Rescue Group, it frees up room for them to pull another out of the pound! And you have the benefit of expert opinions and the support of professionals as you start your new life with your fur-baby. Please support these organizations!
